The LMN online offsite backup and restore service provides a cost effective offsite backup and restore service, delivered under a service level agreement, taking advantage of existing LMN links.The service is offered in partnership with InTechnology plc who are the UK's leading provider in this field.
Before
the service was launched, an extensive three month pilot under the
management of a steering group composed of senior representatives
of the LMN community.
By utilising the existing network connections to LMN and an interlink between LMN and the InTechnology network, the costs of the service are dramatically reduced. In addition LMN has negotiated further discounts due to the aggregation of service provision.
There
are two service options which offer solutions to meet the varied
needs of LMN members. One service, whilst it can support any operating
system is optimised for the Windows environment and supports major
applications including Exchange, SQL and Oracle . The other service
is designed for large data volumes and is especially effective with
UNIX. Both services are covered by InTechnolgy's 24x7 network operations
centre.
