LMN initiated a Focus Group event on 10th March 2006. The Focus group panel was chaired by Russell Altendorff, the Chair of the Business Development Group, IT Director of London Business School and four other LMN institutions to explore the potential of the Web File Storage service WFS which is currently available from InTechnology and Xythos.
Jim Till, Marketing Manager Xythos, briefly introduced the WFS solution. Allan Tuchman, Manager of the Production Applications Group and Principal Research Programmer of University of Illinois discussed his experience of WFS focussing on file sharing and document management and how WFS facilitated collaboration amongst their community of 25,000 students and staff. Chair Russell Altendorff coordinated discussion on cost, operational, legal, IT strategy, service agreement and benefits aspects of the service. This focus group clearly highlighted the benefits of the web file service for the LMN community by a way of enabling a secure and safe mode of sharing and storing collaborative information at a highly competitive pricing and facilitation of operational and IT strategy management.
