"Compliance to E-mail management: the way forward"

2. Legal perspective by Farrer's with particular expertise in IT, Higher & Further education and the public sector
-Overview about the law and e-mail management in the education sector: current situation and future trends.
-cases from public sector organisations that had to track e-mails for formal investigations and disciplinary actions
-Issues to address should they decide to outsource the management of e-mail records: e-mail archiving.

3. JISC Resources for Email & Records Management
The chair, John Burke will provide guidance on the latest relevant information from JISC

4. Case Study, Carys Thomas Assistant Director (Service Strategy) Computing Services, Loughborough University
Highlights of the JISC sponsored study into developing policies for retention and disposal of email in line with the policies and legal requirements with insights into:
-current and possible practices for dealing with email at a corporate, department or group level
-user education
-evaluation of various technical options for archiving email
