London Metropolitan Network Ltd (LMN) is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and owned by its members - London’s Higher & Further Education institutes.
LMN was established in 1996 and provides a powerful, fast and resilient IT Network supporting vital systems that underpin the teaching and research of London’s universities, colleges and public sector organisations associated with education.
LMN fosters cooperation and learning in the capital connecting around one million users in the Greater London Area to the national JANET backbone, and onward to the global internet.
LMN offers value-added network based services, professional networking events and technological support.

The aims of LMN
- To provide a high performance and resilient network infrastructure enabling connectivity within the LMN community and onwards to JANET and the global Internet
- To develop a range of services to meet the members’ needs and aspirations
- To be the supplier of choice for network services within the public sector in London.
- To be a focus and facilitator for collaborative initiatives within the public sector in London.
- To expand LMN to include the wider public sector community in Greater London.
LMN has a dedicated management team to provide advice and assistance with any aspect its member’s internet connections and additional services.
