New services have been introduced to support the secure and efficient operation of the IT infrastructure that underpins all research and teaching in the LMN community.

ARCHIVING
LMN is investigating a cost effective solution for an archiving facility that will enable long term storage and retrieval of operationally inactive e-mail and data. Service Outline

MANAGED PODCASTING SERVICE
LMN and ULCC are piloting podcasting as a means of a communication and content management medium with LMN member institutions. Further Information

WIRELESS
LMN member institution SOAS is piloting a BTopenzone model to allow access within the institution and for external visitors/conferences. Read more the report from SOAS here.

VERIZON CONNECTIVITY
Pilot continues for Roehampton, London South Bank and Greenwich Universities. The link is now in place and tested for commercial activities of member institutions such as halls of residence, conferences and connecting spin outs

UNIFIED COMMUNICATIONS
IP telephony pilot due to start at London School of Economics, Ravensbourne college, Havering 6th form college and Kings fund in autumn 2009. The pilot will test InTechnology’s integrated voice and data infrastructure based on the latest converged IP technology platforms. The pilot also will address direct cost saving by 20% per annum from an integrated voice and data network and explore whether InTechnology can provide a framework for LMN member institutions to understand and control future costs and renewal of their communications infrastructure. ON DEMAND INTEGRATED IT SERVICES 
LMN members have expressed interest in services to access multi-project functionality for internal and external IT / ITIL based functions such as Incident, Problem, Change, Release and Service Level Management along with additional business functions such as Marketing, Finance, HR and FM. LMN is evaluating solutions for cost effective integration of IT services: helpdesk, e-mail, service portals, customer surveys.
